01 / Why it exists
Most traders keep their journal in a spreadsheet. It works until you take a partial exit, move a stop or trade an option. Then the formulas break and the numbers stop matching your contract notes. The apps that handle this properly ask for an account and a copy of every trade on their servers.
02 / What it does
What TradeBook does
- 01
One-screen dashboard
Net P&L, open risk, capital deployed, win rate, expectancy and profit factor, with a monthly P&L chart above your open and closed trades.
- 02
Partial exits
Book 25%, 50% or any quantity and keep the rest running. Each exit keeps its own date, price and charges, and can be edited or undone.
- 03
Stops and R-multiples
Every trade keeps its initial stop, which defines 1R, and a dated history of every stop move. Trailing a stop never changes the R-multiple.
- 04
NSE and BSE symbol search
Search about 42,000 stocks, futures and options. Picking one fills in the instrument type, lot size and last close.
- 05
End-of-day prices
Prices come from the official NSE and BSE bhav copies once per trading day after 5 PM IST, and drive the last price and unrealized P&L.
- 06
Strategy labels
Tag trades as Breakout, Pullback, Earnings or your own labels, then filter the whole dashboard by one or more of them.

Questions
Where is my journal stored?
In your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server. Export a JSON backup from settings to keep a copy or move to another machine.
Which instruments does it support?
Stocks, futures and options listed on NSE and BSE.
Does it connect to my broker?
No. You enter trades yourself, which keeps your broker login out of it entirely. Symbol search fills in most of the details for you.
Are prices live?
No. TradeBook uses end-of-day closing prices from the exchange bhav copies, which is what a swing or positional journal needs.
